An Evening with Mystery Writer Emily Arsenault

Tuesday, 3/23/10 @ 7 pm

An Evening with Mystery Writer Emily Arsenault. The dusty files of a venerable book publisher…A hidden cache of coded clues…A story written by a phantom author…An unsolved murder in a gritty urban park—all collide memorable in Emily Arsenault’s magnificent debut, at once a teasing literary puzzle, an ingenious suspense novel, and an exploration of definitions: of words, of who we are, and the stories we choose to define us. The New York Times Book Review called Emily Arsenault’s debut novel a “little gem.”

Picturing America: Art Exhibit Portraying Snapshots of American History.

On display now and throughout 2009 located in the upper level of the rotunda.

The Thayer Memorial Library had an opportunity to apply for Picturing America, a collection of large, beautifully laminated prints of great works of American art. This project was created by the National Endowment for the Humanities to support the teaching and understanding of America's history and founding principles for libraries and schools around the country. Fortunately for us, our Library became an award recipient! These images offer a way to understand the history of America - its diverse people and places, its travails and triumphs - through some of our greatest artistic masterpieces. Each image has a story connected with it and these are gathered in a booklet for the viewer to use while enjoying the exhibit.

All programs are held in the Nathaniel Thayer Dexter Meeting Room on the lower level of the Library. Access to the building through the back door will be available during programming.

We look forward to seeing you!
