Rosemary Davis Environmental Program Series
For the 8th year now the Thayer Memorial Library has been awarded a grant from the Rosemary Davis Memorial Fund of Greater Worcester Community Foundation to hold a series of environmentally-themed programs. Programs and scheduled dates are as follows:
Wolf Talk
Tuesday, 2/9/10 @ 6:30 pm
Wolf Talk, an educational program, with a live wolf. Learn about wolf behavior in captivity and in the wild, eating habits, and pack structure. Recommended for ages 6 and up. Raves for Reptiles

Raves for Reptiles, with Rae Griffiths of Teaching Creatures. Snakes and turtles and lizards, oh, my! In addition to seeing remarkable reptiles, the audience will have a chance to touch real and replica skins, skulls, and other biofacts. Recommended for ages 6 and up. Going Green

“Going Green” Around the World with Matthew and Melissa Gabriel of Animal World Experience. In this program, the audience will have a chance to participate in an interactive game that explains how every plant, animal, and person is important to the balance of nature. Tropical Rain Forest Animal Show

Tropical Rain Forest Animal Show. Learn about the rain forest and the animals that inhabit this precious resource. Michelle’s Menagerie will present live creatures including a quail, a python, a tree frog, a millipede, a scorpion, and a pink-toe tarantula. Recommended for ages 6 and up. Wild Night Life: A Nocturnal Animal Show. Learn about the mysterious world of nocturnal mammals. Included in this program are a hedgehog, a ferret, an alligator, a chinchilla, a fox, and a skunk. Live Birds of Prey Show

Birds of prey range in size from falconets and elf owls (which stand only a few inches) to condors with wingspans of 9 feet or more. This presentation by Tom Ricardi, founder of the Mass. Birds of Prey Rehabilitation Facility, focuses on conservation and species identification. Recommended for ages 6 and up. Please note: The Dexter Room holds a maximum of 68 people. My Yellowstone Experience

My Yellowstone Experience: A Photographic Journey of the World’s First National Park (established in 1872). Jon Way, an eastern coyote researcher, has visited Yellowstone nine times. In his presentation, you’ll see photographs of elk, bison, bighorn sheep, black bears, coyote-badgers, and wolves, along with the park’s unique geology and scenery.
