Friends of TML

Friends of TML LogoThe Friends of the Thayer Memorial Library is a group of citizens who have a common concern for their library's active participation in community life. Our conviction is that quality library service is important for everyone.

We exist to support the Thayer Memorial Library's special programming which touches the lives of everyone from preschoolers to senior citizens. With the proceeds from membership dues, the Annual Book Sale and the sale of Lancaster memoribilia, the Friends have provided the library with:

  • Friends Healthy Living Series funding
  • Friends Arts and History Series funding
  • Passes to: Fruitlands Museums, The Butterfly Place, Garden in the Woods, Museum of Russian Icons, Sports Museum, Tower Hill Botanic Garden
  • Equipment for wireless internet access in Library
  • Support for the Summer Reading Program
  • Volunteers to help with landscaping the library grounds

Membership

Annual membership dues are available at several levels:

Kindred Spirit
$100

Well-wisher
$50

Dear Friend
$25

Family
$15

Individual Friend
$10

Little Friend*

The Friends would like to highlight the success of a pilot program. It's called Little Friend. The dual purpose of the new membership level is to raise funds in support of the Library and to instill in young people a sense of stewardship. The Little Friend membership consists of a membership card, which allows each Little Friend to choose three free books at both our Children's Book Sale and our Friends' Annual Book Sale. See details on the membership form.

The Friends of the Thayer Memorial Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax deductible by law. Membership forms are available in the Friends corner of the Reading Room or here .

The Friends meet regularly on the 2nd Monday of each month at the Thayer Memorial Library. All are welcome to attend!
