The Thayer Memorial Library provides four public computers available to patrons of all ages. All computers are equipped with a suite of conventional apps to edit documents and spreadsheets and can access the Internet. Wireless internet service is available to anyone with a mobile device, tablet or laptop.
Child Safety on the Internet at the Library
Parents or legal guardians (Parents) are responsible for any of the information selected and/or accessed by their children. Therefore, Parents are encouraged to discuss the use of the Internet in relation to their family’s personal values and boundaries with their children and to monitor their children’s use of the Internet at home and in the Library. Parents who do not want their children to have access to certain information on the Internet should so advise their children. In addition, Parents should be aware that the Library:
- Cannot be responsible for any unauthorized disclosure, use and dissemination of personal identification. Patrons are encouraged never to give out any identifying information.
- Does not establish, maintain and/or actively facilitate the use of e-mail accounts, news groups, list-serves or chat-rooms for its users.
Parents and children are encouraged to access and read information on basic Internet Safety at the NetSmartz Workshop developed by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
