Friends of Thayer Memorial Library exists to stimulate community interest in the services and needs of the library, to enrich the cultural life of the community, and to promote a program of assistance through volunteer help and fundraising that will enable the library to keep pace with the growth of the town of Lancaster, MA.
2023 proved to be a year of gathering. In February, the Friends funded a Legislative breakfast attended by many members of the community, including local library directors, the MBLC, our trustees, friends, Senator John Cronin, and State Representative Meghan Kilcoyne. The event spurred great conversations about library funding, accessibility to e-media, and the continued role that libraries serve through programming, provision of meeting spaces, and learning opportunities.
Also, through the funding of the Friends, Thayer Memorial Library continues to offer online access to myriad e-books, audiobooks, e-music, and a variety of other electronic services via:
- hoopla: Instantly borrow free e-books, audiobooks, digital movies, music, and comics, available 24/7.
- Overdrive: Borrow e-books,, audiobooks, magazines, and streaming videos from a vast media library on your phone, mobile device or computer.
- Wowbrary: Discover the newest books, videos, and music available at Thayer Memorial Library.
